Nhs Job Vacancies In Scotland
Office for National statistics (ONS) unemployment figures for the third quarter this year gave reason for optimism even though the number of those out of work increased by 21,000 as it was the slowest increase since March to May of last year.
Rising Unemplopyment
The figures suggest that while unemployment may continue to rise, the worst is over and the economy is expected to break out of recession in the new year. The total number of unemployed reached 2.49 million leaving 7.9 per cent of the population without work, the highest number since 2006.
The number of people in work was 29 million although this was still down by 432,000 from the same period last year.
