Monmouthshire Council Vacancies
The legatine trial continues without Queen Katherine, who refuses to make any more appearances in court. Cardinals Wolsey and Campeggio carry on, trying to determine whether or not Katherine’s marriage to the King’s brother, Arthur, was consummated.
Sir Anthony Willoughby is called to the trial as a witness, and testifies that Arthur implied he and Katherine had had sexual relations during their brief marriage. The testimony turns the trial into an embarrassing spectacle, and Henry looks less than amused by the manner in which it is progressing.
Bishop John Fisher Makes a Statement At the Legatine Court
Bishop Fisher, who serves as Queen Katherine’s counsel during the trial, makes a statement on her behalf. He declares that even heaven cannot dissolve this marriage, and that he is prepared to lay down his life for the sanctity of marriage and to condemn adultery.
